Goals and Images

The images I created were intended to be fairly simple, but clear and concise in what they are conveying. They are not meant for digital audiences to spend much time looking at or dissecting but are simply there to send a quick message at a glance. For starters, the favicon image. When thinking about what to create for the favicon image this was the absolute first thing that came to my mind. For simplicity’s sake and to make clear that this is a website personal to me, the favicon had to be my initials. To make the favicon a little more unique and memorable, however, I decided to combine my two initials into one shape. Making a favicon that is memorable, decently unique, and clear in what it means. For the computer science image, I decided to take a clipart of a laptop and add various multicolored squares and lines to give it a science/technology feel. As said previously this image is not meant to be a grand spectacle of any kind but is simply meant to take my interest in computer science as a career path, and condense it into an image that conveys so. Lastly, the digital studies image. This image is largely similar to the computer science image except it uses a clipart of a book instead of a laptop. This was done as a sense of consistencey between the two pages the images reside in. As the digital studies image and computer science image have largely the same goals in mind.

Methodological Approach

All three of these images were made with the use of Canva and free clipart found online. I used Canva because it was the most effective and easiest program at my disposal to make these images as for the most part they consist of all shapes and lines. During my time using Canva, I was mostly confident in what I was doing, and everything came together clearly. One major challenge I faced however was the lack of being able to color in the favicon, and the white background surrounding all the images. Two things I will need to enter into Photoshop to fix. To rid myself of these challenges in the future, I plan to further explore the limitations of what I am using, and what other tools I have at my disposal to circumvent them, to hopefully have a more effective workflow.

Conclusion

Overall, I feel as if these images to a good job of showcasing what I want my website to be and what my goals are for it. While there are a few tweaks that need to be done to make the images as good as they can be, the goal is clear and defined within them.
